Illinois Political Science Review

The IPSR is a refereed publication of the Illinois Political Science Association and accepts manuscripts in all areas of political science, including the teaching of political science. 

The Review publishes original research that makes contributions to the discipline, with preference given to manuscripts exploring the politics of Illinois or presented at the Association’s Annual conference.

Submission Guidelines

  • Only electronic submissions via email are accepted.

  • Submit one file with an abstract of 150-200 words, manuscript title and identifying and contact information for the author(s) in MSWord or Rich Text format.

  • Please identify a single author for communication and correspondence.

  • Submit one manuscript copy, with minimal internal formatting and no identifying information for the author(s), in MSWord or Rich Text format to both editors listed above.

  • Manuscripts must not be longer than 10,000 words including text, tables, figures, notes, references, and appendices.

  • Citations must follow the APA style. Review of books related to Illinois politics or written by Illinois scholars are welcomed with prior approval of the editions.

  • Manuscripts must not be submitted to other publishing venues while under consideration at the IPSR.

  • The Illinois Political Science Review is published in every odd year.

  • A general publication timeline will be provided upon acceptance for publication of any new submissions.
