JONATHAN PETERSON
Professor of Politics and Government
Dr. Peterson came to North Park because of the way it integrates the study of political science and faith, which he believes has much to say in response to those questions. “Political science needs an influx of students and scholars who know enough about religious faith to explore its significance in today’s political environment,” he says.
By researching and analyzing public opinion in American politics through the lens of religion, Dr. Peterson finds meaningful ways to connect his faith to the study of politics and government. “North Park’s distinctively Christian character provides an invaluable opportunity for us to engage in meaningful discussions about the role of faith in our disciplines,” he says.
Dr. Peterson finds that North Park offers the advantages of a small liberal arts university from “the middle of one of the world’s great cities.” Additionally, he says, “our multicultural commitment enriches the conversation by bringing together incredible students from every corner of the country and around the world.”
